Which is why I want to share these few clips from the Abraham-Hicks teaching.

Esther Hicks channels for a group of non-physical beings called Abraham on their teachings of  spirituality. Together they guide individuals to awaken in this time – here and now. They talk about subjects such as “law of attraction” and how to tune our frequency so we align with the source. They call it “being in the vortex”.

As an empath it can be confusing living with others.

What’s mine? What’s yours?

Differentiating others “stuff” from your stuff.

Whether it be in a house with our family, in an apartment surrounded by our neighbors, or at work with our co-workers. Trying to differentiate where energy or sensations is coming from can be tough. All our energies are smushed together like a bowl of soup.

Especially when it comes to others feeling bad, negative energies, unwanted emotions, sadness, anxiety, physical pain or ailment of some sort, and even confusing rambling thoughts in someone else’s head.

Yes, as an empath we tend to pick up these things more easily than others.  Heck, some of us who are empaths…and don’t know are empaths, tend to take it all in as it is OURS. And ours alone. That could be overwhelming.

So just how do we tell what is ours and what is others?

Even with handy techniques in our hands, there’s still times when we get so immersed in the energy that it’s fuzzy to pick out where everything is coming from.

There’s hope… this one technique has saved me on countless times!

When the direction or source of that “UNWANTED” energy can’t be detected anymore, it’s wise to step out for a second. Simply get up and take a nice walk to sever the energy ties between you.

Dr. Michael R. Smith was once asked during an interview, “There’s many empath out there that sometime involved in addictive harmful habits because of their sensitivity. That they use these habits to cope. Is there any alternative that you recommend for them?”

Michael answered, “Yeah, Yoga!”

Empaths and Highly Sensitive People (hsp) have a sensitive system compared to the majority of the population. If we don’t take responsibility for ourselves we may find ourselves involved in risky behaviors to cope with the sensitivity.

It’s such a sad sight when Empaths don’t catch on to their sensitivity and realize there’s an alternative solution.

It’s important to find alternatives that calm you, bring back your awareness…your presence. I love how Eckhart Tolle said in his book The Power of Now, “If you aren’t present in your house (your body) all kinds of shady characters will show up.”

It’s like a bum sneaks in and crashes in your house. Hooligans vandalizing your home. Graffiti devaluing your property.

It’s basically what’s happening. If you drink, smoke, gamble, binge eat, do drugs, take heavy medications or whatever your unhealthy addictive behavior is… it’s dimming your awareness. And as Empaths & HSP, we highly depend on our awareness to stay present and make sound decision for our highest good and well being… to LIVE.

Without it, we can loose grip with coping with the normal day to day situations. And creating the safe personal zone.

Being an empath can feel like a curse instead of a gift. This is especially so when we don’t know how to deal with it.

Moreover, we can feel like a victim to the different things happening around us… Even feel things going on are bigger than us. Taking in so much emotion, thoughts,and physical pain of others we can feel overwhelm and over consumed by the intensity.

… and we wonder “Why me?”

When it feels like it’s just too much, this one phrase could help you put things into perspective.

“We all are affected by each other regardless if we are an empath or not. You affect me. I affect you. Even if some of us can not sense it  to the degree and intensity as we [empaths] can, never the less, they are affected. Because WE ARE ALL CONNECTED. ”

I picked this up from a good friend and teacher of mine, Dr. Michael R. Smith. Empaths and the Shadow – Overcoming Darkness by Creating Light

Empaths understand, as walkers between worlds, the polarities of Darkness and Light.

Every single thought carries energy that affects ourselves as empaths and others. Empaths know and understand this unlike any other individuals, because we take the brunt of other people’s negativity. We feel it in our own energy fields.

Empaths often will hear the very not-so-nice words and literally experience the not-so-nice energy that has been created by others. The mere act of walking into a chaotic restaurant or department store is all that it takes (thus, empaths avoid crowded places like the plague).

Negative energy stays around. If left unchecked, it will accomplish its mission of advancement of the Darkness. One simple negative thought will linger unless we recant those words and take responsibility for our own karmic negativity.

If we do not face the Shadow side and learn to become friends with it, then we will never learn to grow past it, nor be of any real help to others. The shadow side is an invitation to create Light. It can NEVER be changed or altered by merely ignoring it or by running away (which empaths tend to be very good at). The Shadow and Darkness are strong signals that we need to do everything in our power to Create Light.

The goal of the work I do is to teach empaths to be better Light Creators. It is our responsibility to ourselves and to others. Creating Light is done through pure prayer, patience, and finding others who are stronger on which to temporarily rely. We cannot accomplish our Collective task as humans and as empaths unless we help each other. That means asking for help when you know you need it – putting aside your ego. I struggled for many years by myself in isolation, thinking that I had to do it all myself. Only when I dropped that belief did I receive the help that I needed, and get to a place where I now am thriving and not a victim anymore.

It’s my belief that empaths have asked for this experience, and here we are Now with a job to do. Accumulated negativity (otherwise known as Karma) is never altered unless we have a stronger Light energy to absorb it and transmute it. Thus, the power of prayer and intention.

Prayer from a pure and humble heart is strong enough to erase and diminish any negative energy. However, many times it will take years to be enough to overcome the Darkness. This is the not-so-fun aspect of Karma, and of being an empath, sucking up everyone else’s negativity. And yet with patience, it WILL be overcome. That is a Universal truth.

I write these words to offer you encouragement to endure and persevere over whatever hardships that are currently Testing you. There is nothing that is strong enough to break you, unless you let it. And if you let it, then you may just get to come back into an earthly body again and do it all over again, until you get it right.

Go for broke this time. You’re an empath with a job to do.

Face you shadow – clean yourself up. And most importantly, ask for help! This time, let’s all get it right!

Here are some solutions to clearing negative energy we found useful. Everyone is different, so try them out to see which ones work better for you.

The number one key is to STAY GROUNDED in your body. This means getting regular exercise, eating nutritional food, and cutting out overstimulating things in your life.

Clearing Negative Energy In Your Environment:
1. Smudging your home with sage.
2. Doing Meditation and taking deep breaths.
3. Strategically placing bowls of sea salt in your home to protect you from entrance of negative energy. The salt acts as an absorbent to negative energy.
4. Using protective stones and crystals. Some good protective stones that repel negative energy are Onyx and Obsidian. While Amber and black tourmaline acts more like absorbers.  And Amethyst is considered a healing stone. So you may also want to consider wearing protective stone jewelry. (Just remember to clean the stones regularly with sea salt and water.)
5. Physically clean the place. This removes the old energy and keep the place in high vibration.

Elevating Your Personal Energy and Grounding Yourself:
1. Take a nice warm shower.
2. Take a nice bath using Epsom Salt. Epsom Salt is to help you cut the psychic connection with others so that they are no longer pulling you. Plus, it helps your tired body relax.
3. Use essential oil or scent such as lavender, eucalyptus, rosemary, etc. to calm and relax yourself.
4. Get a nice massage.
5. Meditate
6. Going outside for some sun.
7. Doing any type of physical activities that will help you stay grounded in your body. (e.g. Yoga, Tai Chi, martial art, jogging, boxing, exercise, or some kind of sports you enjoy, etc.)
8. Get some fresh air.
9. Connect with nature.
10. Going to ocean, forest, or mountain area also helps you rejuvenate.
11. Surrounding yourself around plants or trees of high energy.
12. Drink pure water. (Bless your water with positive energy before drinking it. And remember to thank it for purifying your body as you drink it.)
13. Eat proper balance nutritious meals.
14. Feel your emotions.
15. Take care of yourself.

Are you drenched in others’ negative energy?

If you are an Empath or a highly sensitive person (HSP) more than likely you are carrying their STUFF around. As an empath and HSP you have a different built in sensory system. It’s more fine tune making you very sensitive to those around you and your environment. So you can be easily influenced by them.

When you catch yourself feeling down or sort of in a slump. Stop and ask yourself, “Is this me?”

If it’s you then ask yourself, “What can I do to get the result I want?”

If the feelings aren’t coming from you, try changing your environment…simply get up and move to another location. More than likely, it may be a nearby person’s or people’s emotions and feelings. Or that place’s energy is just funky.

Great example of other people’s negative energy wearing you down is being stuck in traffic. There’s a lot of different energy and feelings going around…boredom, sick, anger, fatigue, anxious, and exhaustion just to name a few. And as an unskilled empath and HSP you could very well have taken in some of these energy…and already covered up in these energy, whether good or bad.

“What can I do?”

That brings me to share two SECRETS…my absolute personal favorite cleansing necessities for Empaths and highly sensitive people (HSP). Remember even as Empaths and HSP,  we are still unique individuals so what may work for me may not do the same for you. Please explore and see which suggested products works and feels better with you.

Now with that said, the two most helpful and crucial cleansing materials for me as an Empath are (1.) Dr. Bronner’s Hemp Lavender Pure-Castile Soap made with organic oils and (2.) 100% natural mineral Epsom Salt. When you take a shower and cleanse yourself with these items, it works wonders!

…because the Hemp Lavender soap soothes, relaxes, and calms you. And it smells great!

Then after you rinsed that off, you do your Epsom Salt cleaning. Oh, I just love how the salt melts and soaked away the heavy dense sensations. The Epsom salt acts as an astringent that pulls the negative energy, heat, and heavy feeling away. To me, it’s one of the fastest effective way to cut the psychic cord between you and others’ energy. Besides that, there are many other healing benefits to this truly miraculous mineral.

Epsom Salt is also a soaking aid for minor sprains and bruises. A saline laxative for the short-term relief of constipation…and it also reduces stiffness and soreness in joints, comforts your muscle aches, alleviate pain from sports and overexertion, take the sting out of insect bites, soothe away stress, deep clean your skin and pores, and soak away tiredness and soreness.

I highly recommend taking an Epsom Salt bath (especially if you’ve been doing energy or emotional work) so you may experience some of its’ benefits today…so settle in and experience the relief. Virtually almost anyone can benefit from it.

Apply the tips mention above when you feel like a cleanse is needed to cut the pyschic cord. These two tips can raise your mood and vibration. Do not, I repeat do not wait till you feel sick or have hit rock bottom to do something about it. If you can spot it, you bring more awareness to your healing. Lift yourself up, don’t wait for external occurrences or others to entertain you or your environment to change for you to start feeling better.

You are capable and able to change your own state of well-being and happiness.

You as a sensitive person have to accept that you are a combination of Physical, Mental, Emotional and Spiritual energies.

  1. What happened to you when you were young was a learning experience that proved to you how much you could handle. When you feel overwhelmed with what life is handing you now, remember that you are strong. Your sensitive body can withstand a lot.
  2. Listening to your body will grant you the wisdom of cause and effect. Your sensitive body will instruct you when you have made wrong choices and also right choices. How often now does your body react negatively to the choices you have made?
  3. The thoughts you have about hurting the people who have harmed you bring more of the same into your life. Your mind is very powerful. It will create what you think about. Keep your thoughts on the positive. Have your mind work for you not against you.
  4. The beliefs you have about yourself will determine how high you can fly. Monitor your self-talk to determine what your beliefs are. Change your beliefs about yourself and your abilities to the positive. Nothing is out of reach if you believe it to be so.
  5. When you have emotional overwhelm it seems like you can’t handle anymore. Yet every time it happens you do. Your sensitive emotions are being exercised to be able to handle more. With practice you will be able to hold all and more in your space.
  6. The key to feel stable with your emotions is to be secure. The feeling of security to a sensitive person is like the need for water. With out it you would surely shrivel up and die. If you did not have a lot of security growing up, ask yourself what you need to feel it now.
  7. You have the ability to sense the underlying energies of others. This is why it is so easy to be overwhelmed by what you see and hear. This is an amazing gift that will give you a huge advantage over normal people. Once you learn to control it you will soar.
  8. You have a special connection to the spirit world. Although everyone can access a higher power, you can communicate with it. You are gifted with this ability for a very good reason. Listen well to the subtle clues that spirit speaks to you. It will be healing for you.
  9. Remember that there is no such thing as mistakes. They are simply learning experiences and so necessary. You are here to learn and without mistakes you would not learn anything. Embrace them and enjoy them for what they are. You grow with each experience.
  10. As a sensitive person you are uniquely gifted to contribute to humanity. It has been written that, “The Meek Shall inherit The Earth.” As a highly sensitive person you are the meek. You are very powerful and have a big role to play. It is time to get the party started.

Give expression to your Physical, Mental, Emotional and Spiritual self and you will find success as a sensitive person.

Are you the #1 Priority on Your List?

It’s crucial we make our health and well-being our number one priority. Why? Because many of us are busy taking care of others needs first while completely ignoring our own needs. If this becomes a habit, it’s easy to start feeling resentful (even towards the people we love). We can feel like no one truly appreciates us after giving and giving till there was nothing left for us to give.

When we are feeling great and in our optimal state of well-being, things flow easily. Giving become more effortless. Time sort of flies by. Many individuals can tap into this state of being when they are doing what they enjoy.

When you give after taking time off for yourself, you can give from a place of abundance and love.  Others can feel the difference.

Many empaths and highly sensitive people feel selfish when they take time off to take care of themselves. This is cause for concern because we are wired different than the average Joe. If we don’t take care of ourselves, we can’t effectively do what we’re here to do…but we’re not exactly wired to take care of ourselves first.

Yes, we are called towards tasks that require priority attention over our own needs but as an empath or highly sensitive person (HSP) it is vitally important we continue to take care of ourselves each and every day so we can contribute to the world as we are called.

6 Quick Daily Care Tips for Empaths and Highly Sensitive People:

1. Drink lots of clean pure water to hydrate your body and keep it functioning at its optimal. Water cleanses and purifies your body giving you sharp mental clarity. Trust me, you’ll be a happier person with a well hydrated body.

2. Exercise regularly. Taking care of your physical body. Get moving. This helps you move out old energy and bring in fresh new energy. Like water, movement is extremely vital for your well-being.

3. Eat healthy nutritious meals. Consume plenty of dark green leafy lettuce and vegetables. Note: Many empaths and HSPs find eating things that are grown closely to or below ground to be very grounding for them. Some examples are potatoes, yams, carrots, peanuts, squashes, pumpkins, and broccoli. And also some find eating red meat to be grounding for them. Overall, just eat well balanced meals throughout the day.

4. Feel your emotions. Process them as they come up. Don’t just shove it down and bury it. When you do, you actually become more and more numb and disconnected… And it’s not always easy to feel your feelings but do it anyway. These energy in your body needs to be move and transformed. I promise, you’ll feel better, lighter, and cleaner afterward.

5. Talk with positive individuals. Just immerse yourself in their positive energy by being in proximity or enjoying a nice conversation. This also does wonders –for we humans are social creatures.

6. Get some fresh air and sunshine. You can’t elevate your mood as easily when you are stuck inside a building. You are a living breathing creature who needs to be connected to nature –not hidden inside some concrete building with artificial light and air. So go outside. Breathe. And bask in the warm sunshine.
